Off-Grid Internet
Off-Grid Internet
Access to the internet is considered an essential as part of the modern lifestyle. With many off-grid locations having little or no mobile signal, and no cable or phone line connections the lack of off-grid internet is a crucial concern.
Our model for off-grid living promises that all the luxuries of a modern life-style are possible, but renewably, remotely, and independently of grid connections. Thanks to emerging Satellite Broadband it is now possible to receive the internet (and thus phone also) in any location, no matter how remote.

Tooway Satellite Broadband Service
Keeping connected when moving off grid can be a concern to many people. With modern satellite broadband, you can stay online wherever you might be. To get connected, you will need a satellite dish and a transmitter attached to your home.
Currently, speeds are comparable to standard ADSL internet but should soon be closer to fibre optic broadband. Speeds of 22Mbps are possible at the moment.
Satellite internet can be slightly more expensive than cabled internet for the same speed. To help bring costs closer to standard broadband, the government is running the Better Broadband Subsidy Scheme. This scheme may provide up to £350 towards the installation of a satellite internet.
Tooway are one of the largest providers of satellite broadband in the UK. They have recently upgraded some of their download speeds to 22Mbps which is comparable with standard cable internet.
Tooway have a number of packages available depending on your desired download speed and download limits. Packages start from £19.90 per month
As long as you have somewhere to mount a dish or antenna with a clear view of the sky then Tooway should be able to help you run stable, fast internet from your off-grid home.
